RAVICHANDRAN, TEAM PROPEL TOP BILLING FOR TV REALITY SHOW
T
elevision reality show Dancing Star being telecast on ETV Kannada in its second season has received good ratings thanks to the presence of Ravichandran, Priya Mani and Mayuri as its judges and its anchor Aakul Balaji.

This was disclosed by programming head of the ETV Kannada channel Parameshwar Gundkal at a press meet on Tuesday at the Sandalwood Studio where the shoot for the reality show was going on.

He told visiting journalists that the second season of the reality show had better and higher ratings compared to the first edition of the show because of the presence of the judges and the show’s anchor Aakul Balaji. He said Ravichandran’s presence in the small screen had added a lot of curiosity among the viewers and boosted viewership for the channel.

Speaking on the occasion, V Ravichandran said although he didn’t know the technicalities and finer details of dance he said he was able to judge the performances of the contestants based on the visual appeal that they used to throw up for the judges. He said Mayuri who is also one of the judges was more competent to talk about dance and its forms.

Ravichandran said the aim of the show was to entertain the viewers for 90 minutes adding that the banter that he shared with host Aakul was sweet and meant only to entertain. He praised host Aakul for boosting the spirits of contestants by not commenting negatively about any of their aspects.

Actress Priya Mani, also a judge, said she was initially reluctant to come on board to judge a show as she was busy in another show in Malayalam. But, she said she agreed to become a judge after listening to the concept.

Danseuse Mayuri who is another judge said it was a new experience for her to be seen in a different set up and that too on television. She said she had been involved in choreographing live shows but the television format was new to her while expressing happiness with Aakul’s style of anchoring.

Anchor Aakul Balaji said the main idea was to keep audience engaged by presenting the programming in a comical way. Also, he said the 90-minute duration of the show was difficult to engage viewers’ attention. But, Balaji said he was happy with the response that the show has been getting.

ETV Kannada is telecasting reality show Dancing Star on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 pm. The show has completed 20 episodes of telecast and another 16 episodes will be telecast before the second season of the show ends.
