Zee Kannada’s new daily soap Shubha Vivaha from Dec 22
The channel, which is on a revamp mode in its fiction segment as its authorities say, has already started two new daily soaps Srirashtu Shubamastu and Jothe Jotheyali recently.
Siju Prabhakaran, business head of Zee Kannada says the channel has undertaken a calendar activity on a door-to-door basis to reach out to the audiences throughout Karnataka.
Shubha Vivaha is a remake of the Hindi daily soap Kumkum bhagaya that is being produced by Balaji Telefilms.
The serial is about a mother and her two daughters. The mother, a widow, manages her family by running a choultry that she owns. She dreams of marrying off her daughters to eligible suitors. The elder daughter Shraddha is a lecturer who is simple, serious and a calm person who has been wanting to get married for a few years. Her younger sister Sunidhi has just completed her graduation and is a happy-go-lucky girl who takes life lightly. Shraddha’s colleague in college Suresh is an disciplinarian and a good samaritan. On the other hand, Bhuvan is a rockstar.
Kavya Sastry, a popular anchor is playing the role of Shraddha and she feels that she is like a daughter everyone likes to have. Kavya Gowda, who played Meera in the serial Meera Madhava is acool girl who expects fun out of life. Rekha Rao, who has been doing negative roles is playing the mother.
Says Rekha Rao,”I have become myself in this serial. I never felt that I am acting and its just not like a role because its like being at home.”
Bhuvan who has done a reality show and is acting in two Kannada films Love Darbar and Ekka Raja Rani says the serial is nothing less than a movie in terms of production values. Arun Murthy who plays Suresh is from a theatre background and is an idealistic person in the serial.
The serial is produced and directed by Aroor Jagadish. Srinidhi has written the dialogues.
