ee Kannada will begin telecast of its new sitcom Shreemaan Shrimathi from November 23 at 7:30 pm. The daily sitcom will be telecast from Monday to Saturday.

Zee Kannada’s deputy business head and programming chief Raghavendra Hunsur told reporters that the channel would like to recreate the trend that sitcoms like Paa.Pa Paandu and Silly Lalli created in the 7.30 pm slot. He said Shreemaan Shrimathi will have a new story every episode or the story may run for about two episodes. He said the channel was determined to bring in a new sitcom at 7.30 pm slot so that it could attract more viewership than at 10-10.30 pm slots.

Raghavendra Hunsur said the channel will begin telecast of the season 2 of its popular show Weekend with Ramesh in December and also begin telecast eleventh season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for elders in the next month.

Shreemaan Srimathi is directed by Prithviraj Kulkarni of Parvathi Parameshwara fame. He said the serial will break the monotony of all the comedy serials by making all the artistes to stand in one line to entertain. “Men will be men” is the main theme of the sitcom, he said.

Editor Jo Ni Harsha has forayed into production with this sitcom. He said the serial will be made in filmi style and will be akin to Hindi serials. He said two sets have been erected at Mohan B Kere Studio at a cost of Rs 15 lakh for the serial. A P Arjun has written the lyrics for the serial’s title song.

Shreemaan Shrimathi is about two couples. Ramachandra Gowda from Chamarajanagar comes to Bengaluru to sell his vests and briefs. He settles down with his wife Pandavapura Puttamalli in a rented house. The other couple Jackpot Janardhan, an LIC agent, lives with his wife Madhura in the opposite house who runs grooming classes. Both the husbands love their wives dearly but feel their wives lack something in them and want more from them leading to hilarious situations. Puttamalli doesn’t know English and doesn’t dress up in modern costumes while Madhura is ultra modern who doesn’t wear sarees or doesn’t follow the village customs.

Lokesh Basavatti (of lawyer Gundanna fame in Parvathi Parameshwara) and Jayasheela (of Veda fame in Parvathi Parameshwara) play the couple from Chamarajnagar, while Bhaskar and Anusha play the city couple. Dakshina Murthy and Bharath have penned the dialogues. Manikanth Kadri has scored the music. Srinivas is the cinematographer. Producer Jo Ni Harsha will work as the editor of the serial.
