ZEE KANNADA’S SA RE GA MA PA LIL CHAMPS REALITY SHOW FROM AUG 1
Raghavendra Hunsur, programming head of the channel told reporters that 5,000 kids were auditioned for the show at Hubballi, Shivamogga, Udupi, Davangere, Mysuru and Bengaluru and 30 of them were selected among them to sing in the upcoming show.
Rajesh Krishnan, Vijay Prakash and Arjun Janya will be the judges for the show. For the first time music composer Arjun Janya will be judging a reality show. Popular anchor Anushri will be hosting the show during the tenth season.
Raghavendra Hunsur said the forthcoming tenth season of the reality show will be an entertainer with kids coming from different districts who will bring with them their own flavour. He said a walk-in celebrity judge will take part every week and the programme will provide for a platform to producers to release their music albums on the show.
He also announced that Zee Kannada will establish a Music Academy to train the children. He hoped that Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will be the main driver for the channel. He said the show had become the hallmark of reality shows on television.
Raghavendra said there will be little room for gimmicks and only music will be given importance. He said more weightage will be given for public participant in selecting and rejecting the singers.
Raghavendra said for the first time the judges will be blindfolded during the first week so as to avoid bias and to eliminate 15 of them in the first week. The idea to blindfold judges will be to encourage only music that reaches the ears and nothing else. The kids will mostly sing retro film songs that were popular in 1970s, 80s and 90s and also render sugama sangeetha besides other forms, he said.
Siju Prabhakaran, business head of Zee Kannada said Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been one of the most successful talent hunt shows on television for the last two decades. He said he was happy that the channel has got a no 2 rating according to Barc data which has wider sampling. Siju said the show will propel the channel to become number 1.
Rajesh Krishnan said he was surprised about the new arrangement to blindfold the judges and that he was looking forward to the show. Arjun Janya had words of encouragement for the channel and Vijay Prakash said he was looking forward to interacting with the kids.
Anushri said the show will run on the strength of innocence and the singing of kids.
