SHRUTHI NAIDU, TEAM PLAN KRUSHI KUSHI IN MANDYA VILLAGE ON JAN 26

uoyed by the success of her sweat donation programme held in the fields of a Mandya village last month on the eve of her birthday, actress, producer and director Shruthi Naidu has now planned Krushi Kushi on Jan. 26 to promote the concept of kitchen garden in more than 60 homes in another Mandya village.

She told reporters that 200 students from selected colleges in Bengaluru will join her team of artistes who have worked in her serials to participate in the programme that is aimed at creating awareness among the urban youth (college students) and also empower rural women. In each home there will be a celebrity.

She said the Krushi Kushi initiative will enable housewives to cultivate vegetables and fruits in the organic way that the family needs and also sell the surplus produce to Organic Mandya store. She said the move will provide financial assistance to the rural women and promote organic farming even in growing vegetables for their own family’s needs.

Shruthi Naidu said she will accompanied by artistes who had worked with her in her nine-year journey. Sridevi, Padmavasanthi, Swathi, Divya, Veena Sundar and many others will join her in the Krushi Kushi initiative programme.

Madhu Chandan of Organic Mandya said the programme will encourage the concept of kitchen garden in villages and this time the Krushi Kushi will be held in Hosurmuddanadoddi village. He said nearly 1000 houses in Kilara villages alone are buying greens and vegetables coming into the market although they have enough space to cultivate ‘Kitchen Garden’ and save this outgo.

He said according to a survey, Rs.4.8 crore is being spent by villagers to buy vegetables from 1,000 families in a year.
