alanamana Cultural Foundation felicitated Pranaya Raja Srinath and his wife Geetha at a colourful function Bellitereya Besuge at Bugle Rock Gardens in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru on Saturday evening to mark the actor’s completion of 50 years in Kannada cinema.

Speaking on the occasion, senior lyricist M N Vyasa Rao said Srinath is an actor who performed beyond one’s imagination and has touched people’s hearts with his acting performances. He said Srinath had acted as the lead in Puttanna Kanagal’s classic film Shubha Mangala for which the lyricist had penned two songs. He said he got introduced to the actor then and that acquaintance had continued as friendship even to this day. Srinath is one of those large-hearted actors in the industry and most of his films have been milestones, he said and added that his completion of 50 years in the industry is something to rejoice about.

Poet B R Lakshman Rao said he was a big fan of Srinath during his college days. He was invited to write a song for Shubha Mangala which brought him immense happiness. He said their friendship  was something unparalleled during these three or four decades. The veteran poet said he still remembers many unforgettable incidents of the time and moments he spent with the actor and his family. He praised the actor for completing 50 years in Kannada cinema.

Actress Padmavasanthi, photographer Pragathi Aswathanarayana and Sujay of Foundation were also present.

Audiences were entertained to some popular evergreen songs from Srinath’s films. Songs which were hits in 1970s and 1980s from films such as Anirickshita, Naa Mechida Huduga, Pavana Ganga, Manasa Sarovara among others were sung. Nagachandrika Bhat, H K Raghu, Srinivasamurthy and Dakshayini were the singers who entertained the audiences.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinath said he had fond and vivid memories of his school and college days that were spent in Basavanagudi. He said he had played in the same place where he was being felicitated for completing 50 years as an actor. He said the whole programme looks like a family function to him. He said it is difficult to put a value to the love and affection that people had showered on him. He said not only Basavanagudi and Bengaluru had contributed to his growth it was also the people of Karnataka who had showered so much love and is indebted to all of them. He also thanked his wife Geetha for being a support all these years in his life and in all his successes and failures.
