DHARMASTHALA HEGGADE OPENS LIBRARY AT SHIVARAM’S HOME

r Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala inaugurated veteran actor Shivaram’s library Gnana Vikasa Kendra at the actor’s residence in Bengaluru.

Dr Heggade likened the opening of the library to marrying off a daughter. He said Shivaram did not give away his collection of books and at the same time he didn’t want them to remain in his shelves without anybody referring to it. The Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala appealed to people to donate books to colleges or universities or even for that matter public libraries instead of throwing them out of the windows. He said people who have good books at home and are unable to dispose them off or even read them should donate them generously.

Dr Heggade spoke about how the college run by the Dharmasthala temple in Ujire had got many reference books as donation from eminent people.

Dr Heggade wished Shivaramanna’s family and said that the actor’s happiness and energy should last for a long time. Dr Heggade was honoured by the members of Shivaramanna’s family.

In his address, Shivaramanna recalled how he bought books on the roadside in Avenue Road and how he spent money that got as birthday gifts to buy books. He said he has a collection of more than 10,000 books for reference that could be used by research scholars and students. He said the reading room will be open at his place from 10.30 am to 5 pm.

Shivaramanna also said he has opened a Dhyana Mandira adjacent to the reading room for those interested in meditation.

Bannanje Govindacharya, Sri Vidyabhushana, Pavagada Prakash, former deputy chief minister R Ashok and MLA of the area, corporator Lakshmi and a few people from the industry were present for the library inauguration.
