SPB said he did not want any honour but he wanted to thank everyone. He said he had not achieved anything as he said there were bigger achievers than him. He said he missed singing for Amitabh Bachchan and expressed his wish to still sing for the actor. SPB said he was overwhelmed by the love and affection that people of Karnataka have bestowed upon him. He said he was happy as he turns 70 this year and added that he will continue to sing as long as his health and voice permit him. |
SPB IS CHIEF PATRON OF TEMPLE IN BAGEPALLI VILLAGE The temple, which is located on a hill, derives its name from a 16-foot Sthamba (pillar) on which the deity Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy appeared and the temple was given a facelift thanks to Koduru Ramamurthy’s efforts who is an industrialist settled in Australia but one who hails from the village in Bagepalli. Balasubrahmanyam’s association with Ramamurthy dates back to 15 years and the former is guiding Ramamurthy on managing the temple. Ramamurthy now plans to develop Billur as a pilgrimage centre in Karnataka and he has drawn up an Rs 20 crore plan towards construction of guesthouses, temple pond, wind tower besides providing for free food and accommodation to devotees. Ramamurthy has spent about Rs 8.5 crore on renovation of the temple. SPB told reporters that Ramamurthy had not sought any financial support for the temple. SPB said director late K S L Swami had helped Ramamurthy in renovation according to Agama Shastra in consultation with the Sringeri seer. SPB will be bringing his family to Billur to participate in the Narasimha Jayanthi celebrations and the Kalyanotsava. About 5000 people are expected to attend the event with 1,000 couples participating in the Kalyanotsava. Vedabrahma Chaangati Koteshwara Rao will be delivering his pravachana and Thanikella Bharani is also taking part in the event. |
