REAL POLICE RELEASING ON FRIDAY
Saikumar told reporters that the film mirrors the real police force as the title suggests and is a representational film without the regular Saikumar rhetoric. He said there were a lot of discussions about his role and the police force at the scripting level. He said every policeman had connected with him and his performances in a way.
Saikumar said the film deals with jihad and strike that had become a hot topic of discussion. The film also tries to put sense into the police force on why they shouldn’t take bribes to do things. He said the film creates interest in the second half as there is investigation and interrogation that has been realistically done. It is a family drama and the law and order is at the backdrop.
Saikumar said he initially wanted to play the role that Manjunath Hegde is doing who represents the father (parent) of today’s generation. But, the director wanted him to play the cop, Saikumar said adding that Manjunath Hegde had done well in that role.
Saikumar praised Suhas, Disha Poovaiah, Akshita and Sai for their performances in the movie. He also praised Spandana and the little boy Arbaaz for their performances.
‘REAL POLICE’ RELEASING ON MARCH 10
Speaking on the occasion, former director general of police Jyothiprakash Mirji said portrayal of police in cinemas is different from what it is in real life because that is what makes people happy as it would be difficult to watch a cinema if it is real. He said police are blamed for all ills and that there is a lot of difference between real police and cinema police. The real police work for more than 24 hours it is felt as they take on-the-spot decisions. The police do not enough room or time to wait and take decisions and there is no room for wrongdoings. He said immediate justice is provided by the police as people go to them in spite of criticizing them.
The retired police officer urged the public to have sympathy towards the policemen as they face a lot of difficulties. He said the police cannot label anyone who comes to them as bad as they have to listen to all sides and grievances. He said political interference especially in postings and transfers should reduce as far as possible.
On the film ‘Real Police,’ Mirji said he believed that the film has a good theme of bringing youths to the mainstream of society and development.
Producer Sadiq said the film has a message for society and it shows what happens in the police department.
Director Saiprakash said Saikumar has become the synonym for police and added that the film is about jihad and how the youngsters have been misguided by elders in the name of religion. He said religion is not important for anyone interested to join the police force. The film has also dealt with the drug mafia in colleges and has tried to clear all misgivings about jihad and drug mafia.
Distributor Gokul said Saiprakash and producer Sadiq have worked hard on the film which is so real and near to our lives.
Spandana Prasad who is now a popular face on television said it is her 8th film out of 13 films in which she has acted. She said it is one of her first releases. She said the duty of real police idealistically should be to prevent occurrence of crime.
Ganesh Rao said the film is a father-son relationship story and he plays a father to a son in the film. He said punishment is not the solution for any crime.
Cinematographer J G Krishna said he and director Saiprakash enjoyed a good rapport on the sets after having worked together in 30 films. He said he had used five cameras in the movie and added that his son Deepak Kumar had used a heli-cam in the film. He said Saikumar has the same energy and enthusiasm that he had in his first film as a cop. He said the actor transforms himself as soon as he dons the police colours.
Saikrishna said he has acted under his father’s direction for the first time. He said his character has a lot of intensity that four of his dialogues were cut by the censors. He said Saikumar supported him and encouraged him to do well. Child artiste Syed Arbaaz has acted well and delivered his lines in one take.
Music composer Balaram said the film has four songs. Singer Ajay Warrier said the lyrics of the whole song was changed after he had finished recording the song. He said it showed the commitment of the director and composer to the details of the film.
‘REAL POLICE’ GETS U/A CERTIFICATE
According to Saiprakash, the film’s story warranted a U/A certificate. He says the film deals with jihad which is a sensitive issue and so it is suitable for children above 12 years to view under adult supervision.
Real Police focuses on the suicide of Mangaluru dental college student as one of the episodes. Balaram has scored the music in his first commercial film. J J Krishna is the cinematographer.
Saiprakash says the film which is produced by Sadiq and his friends. The film also marks the return of director into the murder mystery genre after Aatanka he made many years ago.
The director says a special screening is being planned for policemen and their families all over the state. He says the producer is working out the details of the new plan and added that the release of the film could take another 45 days.
‘REAL POLICE’ AUDIO, TRAILER RELEASED
Director Saiprakash said he will be directing his 100th film in 2017 while Real Police also focuses on the suicide of Mangaluru dental college student as one of the episodes in the film. He said music composer Balaram has scored the music for a commercial film after doing music for devotional albums. He said his son Saikrishna had acted in a small role as a Muslim terrorist and hoped that his son would become a director soon.
Music composer Balaram said the credit for scoring music for a commercial film for the first time should go to his children.
Cinematographer J G Krishna said he had worked as a cameraman for 130 films most of which were police stories. He said he has produced 13 films and all of them had starred Saikumar. He said Saikumar is a dedicated and a hard working artiste and added that whoever respects colour and cinema will remain in business.
Manjunath Hegde said Real Police is a film made by senior citizens as most of them are above 50 years of age. Ramesh Pandit plays a sand mining baron in the film.
Saikrishna, son of Saiprakash said he had done a small role in the film. He said he wanted to become a director but became a designer. Ravi Srivatsa with whom he had worked as an associate director made him act in Deadly Soma. He said his first preference will be getting into direction now and continue acting in films as well while quitting designing work.
Saikumar said real policemen were there before him and it was his Police Story that got him the title dialogue king. He said director Saiprakash has acted as the home minister and his scene with the director in the movie is the best one. He said he had done close to 50 films as a cop out of 90 films and added that he will be completing 100 soon which should be in a cop’s role. He said he has inherited his voice from father and culture from his mother and love from the audiences.
MP K C Ramamurthy said nobody in the police department knows about the police day. He said policemen are human and not bad adding that the cops worked more than the army jawans. He said it is unimaginable for a policeman to take leave.
Retired ACP Ashok Kumar said he wanted Saiprakash and Saikumar to do films based on cops for their 100th movie. He said he had done 18 encounters in his 35 years of service and four films were made in Kannada based on his stories. He said because of politics he could not get promoted as SP. He said the film Real Police has a good story and expressed the confidence that the film will do well.
A song of the movie was shown.
SAIPRAKASH’S 98TH FILM TITLED ‘REAL POLICE’
Director Saiprakash told reporters that people have good opinion about the police and the police force and that they punish the innocent. He said the film is an attempt to show the police force has good people in it. He said the premise of the film is not a single innocent person should be punished until proven guilty.
The director said the film juxtaposes jihad, drug mafia and police into a murder mystery. The film also deals with the recent move by the police force to go on a strike and the concerns surrounding their welfare.
Manjunath Hegde said he plays a father who sacrifices for the sake of his daughter. He said Saikumar felt that he should have got to play Manjunath’s role which Saiprakash felt Manjunath could get an award.
The film also stars Disha Poovaiah as a medico. Akshita Bopaiah plays the friend of Disha in the movie in her first film.
Real Police has four songs for which music has been composed by Balaram. J G Krishna is the cameraman.
Saiprakash said the film is eyeing a release in November.
