opular actor and villain Ravishankar will celebrate his 50th birthday on Monday, Nov.28 in Bengaluru. He cut a cake on Saturday ahead of his birthday before the media and thanked all the people of the industry, his fans, Kannadigas and the media for giving him all the support and love during the last five years.

Ravishankar told reporters that his fans have organized a blood donation camp and is also planning to celebrate his birthday in an orphanage in Bengaluru.

He said 50 is a milestone in everyone’s life and added that experience can be likened to God. He said he had achieved nothing till he was 45 but he had earned everything in the last five years ever since he worked in Kannada film Kempegowda with Sudeep. Ravishankar said he had acted as a hero in a few Telugu films after he had acted as a child artiste in about 50 to 60 Telugu films. He said he never wanted to become a dubbing artiste but wanted to be an actor. Due to familial pressures and responsibilities he took to dubbing as much as all villains wanted a new voice. Ravishankar said dubbing artistes never get recognition as their names appear in the credit roll in the end so much so that they are humiliated and do not get their due.

However, he said things changed after Arundhati that he came to be known as Bommali Ravishankar. He said his mother tongue is Telugu but Kannada is his language that has given him liveline and a lifeline.

He thanked Sudeep for giving him Armugam’s role in Kempegowda which was done by Prakash Rai in Tamil that catapulted him to fame. He said he had done 60 films in last five years besides giving him a place in everyone’s hearts. Ravishankar said though he had missed an opportunity to work with Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan he was happy that he is acting with other big stars of Kannada cinema today.

He said he may direct a film next year and also launch his son who has completed his graduation.

Ravishankar is currently acting in Kannada films Hebbuli (with Sudeep), Rajaratha, Tiger, Dhairyam, Maanja that are in various stages of production. His recent release Nataraja Service in which he has appeared in the song Allah Allah has become viral.
