MR AIRAVATHA GETS U/A CERTIFICATE, TO RELEASE ON OCT 1
D
arshan-starrer Mr Airavatha has got a U/A certificate from the censors with one cut and two mutes and is all set to hit the theatres on October 1.

Producer Sandesh Nagaraj told journalists on Saturday night that Mr Airavatha will release in 350 theatres across Karnataka, 30 theatres outside Karnataka and about 42 centres overseas.

He said the film has lived up to its name and is probably one of the highest big budget films in Kannada cinema without disclosing the figures. He said all the other areas for distribution had been sold and that the producer has made a modest profit.

Nagaraj said a good film has been made because of Darshan. He said he had made Prince with Darshan which did not incur a loss but did not make a profit either. Nagaraj said it was then that Darshan had expressed his desire to do a film with him and play a cop’s role.

Nagaraj praised Darshan’s dedication in maintaining a strict diet during the shoot. He said Darshan had been off rice for six or seven months and had been feeding on Chicken to develop muscle.

Nagaraj also denied there were tiffs and quarrels in the team during the shoot. He however admitted that there were differences but were settled as it was only related to cinema.

Distributor M N Kumar who has taken Mysuru area said Mr Airavatha has turned out to be a  good cinema.

Producer Sandesh, Nagaraj’s son said there was a lot of hype surrounding Mr Airavatha because of the media interest and the hero. He said director stuck to the story but the film was shot for an extended period of 150 days.

Director A P Arjun said the movie turned out to be a big budget cinema probably because of the title. But, he said the expenditure on the movie was necessary. He thanked Darshan for giving him an opportunity to direct the movie. Arjun said the movie has good screenplay and good story with four songs and five fights. The film has been shot in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ballari and Slovenia.

Darshan said the movie turned out to be the costliest production among all the films made by Nagaraj. The movie talks about today’s police system and Airavatha is a cop. The film also throws light on farmers’ issues, auto drivers and brings the cinema subject closer to the people.

Darshan praised the producer for investing in him and his fitness regimen. He said all the credit for the movie should go to the producer. Darshan also announced his intent to do at least two films a year henceforth.
