SPECIAL SCREENING OF AWARD WINNING FILM MARIKONDAVARU
A
special screening of Marikondavaru was held in Bengaluru on Monday. The film won the second best film award from the state government for 2015. The film is directed by K Shivarudraiah. It stars Sanchari Vijay, Sonu Gowda, Satya, Samyukta Hornad, Sunil Kumar and a few other newcomers.

The film is based on Devanur Mahadeva’s literary work. He said three short stories have been made into a film. The short stories relate to sand mafia, rural love and the relationship between a husband and wife in rural milieu.

Mahadeva said the film could have been more established and the mother’s agony could have been more intense and extended.

Girish Kasaravalli said Mahadeva’s work has been portrayed well on the screen. Shivarudraiah has adapted the story to the screen in a fair manner. He said Kannada cinema was treading a different path these days.

Director Shivarudraiah said he couldn’t add a song or picturise or a song due to non-availability of artistes. However, the director sought permission from the producer to shoot a song and add it to the film before releasing it.

Basant Kumar Patil said Kannada literature is so rich that they could be adapted to make any films in any language. He said it’s a blatant lie when people are heard saying that there are no stories in Kannada literature that can be told.

Sonu Gowda said she was happy to have done the role in the movie. She said she had taken training in acting from Benaka troupe where Satya has also trained.
