FILM CHAMBER GOES HARD ON REALITY SHOWS
T
he Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has strongly opposed television reality shows and the participation of actors on these shows.

The president of KFCC, Sa Ra Govindu told journalists that they would form a human chain in front of Colors Kannada office to stop Kichcha Sudeep from entering the Bigg Boss shoot venue on October 9. He said Kannada films are faring poorly at the box-office due to the reality shows. He said actors are participating in reality shows which is straining the industry and affecting the producers.

Govindu said he would impress upon Cine Artistes Association President Ambarish to solve the problem as box-office collections of Kannada films had come down due to participation of actors in reality shows. He said evening shows were running almost empty and audiences were disinterested to see movies at theatres with top stars being part of television reality shows.

Former president of KFCC, Thomas DSouza said reality shows have dealt a death blow to the industry and the participation of top actors in these shows have only compounded the problem. He said the stars need to save the cinema industry.

Sa Ra Govindu urged the television channels to television rights of films. He said each channel should buy at least 25 films a year and save the producers and the industry. He also said the apex body has suggested a percentage system for single screen theatres instead of weekly rentals as the rentals were high for small and medium budget films.

The KFCC has formed a screening committee to advice producers on releasing films in a proper way.
