hief Minister Siddaramaiah released the music audio of Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s upcoming film Ishtakaamya at a function in Bengaluru. The function started late due to the chief minister’s pre-occupation in the light of the tension that prevailed in the city despite being a holiday.

Siddaramaiah said films which carry good social messages with values that are liked by people should be made that will pave the way for a better society. His ministerial colleagues H C Mahadevappa, Mahadev Prasad and Umashri were also present. Jnanapith awardee Dr Chandrashekar Kambara presided over the function.

V Ravichandran who was the special guest said Nagathihalli Chandrashekar had made the film Ishtakaamya with all fondness. He said he was confused about the film’s title and so he found out about it from the director. He said he learnt how to speak and address people because of his association with Hamsalekha and from the composer. He wished Nagathihalli Chandrashekar that the film become another hit like America America.

Ravichandran said Nagathihalli is a good story teller and he is now promoting his film using English subtitles. He said Kannada was now dependent on English as people send messages on their mobile phones in English but in Kannada lingo.

Karnataka Film Chamber President Sa Ra Govindu said Nagathihalli is a disciplined soldier and added that the director does everything with love, fondness and discipline. He said he wanted to produce a film based on Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s story but did not happen.

The artistes of the film Vijay Surya, Mayuri and Kavya Shetty were also present. Suman Nagarkar who has acted in a small role in Ishtakaamya said she had acted in a movie after 15 years and added that she was willing to accept new offers.

Ajneesh Lokanath has scored the music for the movie.

shtakaamya, a film directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar is ready to go to the censors following the completion of shoot. The film’s poster was also released by Suresh Heblikar. The film stars Vijay Surya, Mayuri and Kavya Shetty  in main roles.

Nagathihalli Chandrashekar told reporters that Ishakaamya is a novel-based story that has been shot in four Malnad districts of the state. He said Ishakaamya was his 14th film in his 30-year career as a film-maker. He said after watching films at the film festival he felt that he should do one or two films a year. His students from the Tent Cinema School have also acted in the movie.

Chandrashekar said a song written by Kuvempu has been picturised at the poet’s Samadhi. He also said Suman Nagarkar who now lives in the US has appeared in a guest role in the movie. He said the actress has also dubbed for her role in the movie and is ready to take up more acting assignments.

Chandrashekar said the film Ishakaamya is produced by Shankare Gowda, a NRI who never visited the set even once but gave him complete freedom to make the movie.

Music composer Ajneesh Lokanath said the film has five songs. Mukhtiar Ali and Vijay Prakash had sung a song each while Shreya Ghoshal had sung two songs, he said.

Ravi Kumar Sana said he worked as a cameraman after a gap in this movie. Yogaraj Bhat said it was good to work with Nagathihalli Chandrashekar who is a teacher and has penned two songs.

Rangayana Raghu said he had learnt a lot working with Nagathihalli Chandrashekar including proper Kannada grammar. B Jayashri said she worked for two days and her role is a hearttouching one.

Popular television actor Vijay Surya said after Crazy Loka he had no offers to act in movies and that he is doing a film only now after Nagathihalli Chandrashekar offered him the role He said he plays a doctor in the film who studies abroad and returns to India for the love of the country and to help people.

Kavya Shetty said she plays a bubbly girl in the movie. Mayuri said Ishatakaamya is her second movie after Krishna Leela. She said she always wanted to work in Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s film. Mayuri said she plays a talkative girl in the movie. She said the movie was shot for 58 days.

Suresh Heblikar said Chandrashekar had written dialogues for his own (Suresh’s) directorial film Kaadina Benki and wished the team of Ishtakaamya good luck.
