roducer L Padmanabha of film College Kumar was seen relieved on Saturday. The reason: Friday was the last day of College Kumar shooting that was held near Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple. Padmanabha, who lost a huge amount of money by producing Kannada film John Johny Janardhan that was released last year, is happy with the completion of his second film College Kumar.

“The budget of College Kumar has escalated by 60 per cent because we did not compromise on quality. We were also particular to have particular artistes for this film. It was completed in a single schedule,’’ said Padmanabha.

Speaking on the occasion, director Hari Santosh alias Santhu of Alemari fame expressed gratitude to the producer for providing everything to complete the shooting of College Kumar. “Producer Padmanabha did not allow me to take a few days leave but managed to have holidays for three days. Today (Saturday) is the last day of 54-day shooting,’’ said Santhosh.

Appreciating cinematographer Anbazhagan from Tamil Nadu, producer Padmanabha said Anbazhagan would be an asset to film industry. “I have to thank Ravishankar, Shruthi and other artistes for completing the shooting of this film in one schedule. I have learnt a lot by being producer of this film. I consider this film as a practical test for me in making films. I can sit in my office and monitor my next film in the near future,’’ he said.

Shruthi and Ravishankar have showered praises on each them. “I am a fan of Ravishankar. I wanted to share the screen with him. My dream has become true with this film,’’ says Shruthi.

Ravishankar appreciated Shruthi’s performance in this film and recalled how he became her fan after watching her performance in Tamil film Kalki.

annada film ‘College Kumar’ mounted the sets on May Day in Bengaluru with Kichcha Sudeep gracing the occasion. The film is being produced by L Padmanabha who earlier produced John Jaani Janardhan. The film is being directed by Santhu who has rechristened himself as Santhu Harish. College Kumar is produced under the banner of M R Films. The film stars Vicky of Kenda Sampige fame, Samyuktha Hegde of ‘Kirik Party’, Shruthi and Ravishankar.

Director Santhu told reporters that he is confident that the film’s subject will be accepted by the people. Alagan is cameraman of this film. The film is about the relationship between father and son. The film will be shot in the veterinary hospital campus near Hebbal for 20 days.

Padmanabha said he had suggested the name of Ravishankar to play the father and Shruthi also agreed to play mother.

Vicky said he had rejected 49 subjects before accepting this offer. He said the film has fun, seriousness and is a family entertainer. He said it would be a challenge to work with Ravishankar and Shruthi. Samyuktha Hegde said the film has shades of Kirik Party and that she plays a villainous lover.

Ravishankar said he has a different role in the film. He said he plays father in the film and that his interaction with son will be interesting. He also said he was waiting for an opportunity to act with Shruthi. He said Samyuktha Hegde has double energy compared to Kirik Party in this film.
